This is me building sounds for various songs on the tour. Generally I’ll have a bunch of saved patches and depending on how I’m feeling or how the show is sounding I will choose one. I try not to keep things too static, my role is primarily playing piano parts, mostly tine sounds from the 80’s and 90s layered with other stuff, like bells and flute sounds for width an texture. From there I add a lot of sequences and arps, though it’s always changing now, which wasn’t the case at all for many years. It was very stagnant and very boring. It’s very fun to have some flexibility and fill the particular role in the band, which is making the stuff…well, very Passion Pitty.
GEAR:
Yamaha - P-250 (main piano/controller)
Waldorf - Iridium (seated on top of the P250)
Waldorf - Q (above the Iridium)
Groove Synthesis - Third Wave (blue keyboard on the other side)
Roland - Juno-60 (synth above the Third wave)
not in frame
Rack with
Roland - D550
Roland - MKS-20
Roland - JD990
Roland - JV2080
running into a Radial KL8
Variable I/O settings, song dependent — all rackmount units not in frame are almost always being triggered and stacked with the P250 for depth and varying effect.
The JD990 is now primarily being used as a synth module for Ben on drums, being triggered by his spd or his keystep pro /possibly drum triggers
